Day 1: ‘Glimpse of GLAD’ training is being offered by NC DPI English-Learners division. Participants are introduced to the theoretical and research base of the model. They will engage in dialogue around current pedagogy and learn strategies that promote academic discourse and literacy success for all students. This is a hands-on workshop in which learners will leave with laminated classroom materials. Participants were pre-registered by their principals.
The session will include: -the rationale for the use of videography to empower student-centered learning. -a brief overview of PBL and the framework for this learning model. -ways to incorporate curriculum standards and prior learning. -technical direction and information regarding filming, video editing, layering, adding sound, color keying (green screen), storyboard creation and copyright protocol. -review of some available software and web-based products. -time for participants to explore various resources available to UCPS students on their Chromebooks and iPads. -samples created by elementary students. -time for reflecting and networking with other participants.
