Level Up! Supporting student growth through Guided Instruction
We’ve all heard our students talk about how they want to level up in their favorite video game, but how do we get them to be just as passionate about leveling up in their academics? We believe one way is to offer solid support through guided instruction. In this session, participants will gain a deeper understanding of the core values of guided instruction, ways to encourage academic growth and deeper thinking through this important practice, and why it is important in every K-12 classroom. As a bonus, we will unpack the instructional moves in this workshop that encourage EmpowerED teaching and learning. For those who attended the Summer Instructional Leadership Institute, this session was formerly titled “Transforming Learning through Guided Instruction

Digital Breakout EDU
A digital breakout is a spin-off of the popular Escape Room trend. In the case of Digital Breakout EDU, students must solve puzzles and clues based on various subject areas to open digital locks. The breakouts are very motivating and give students opportunities to think critically and use their creativity. Students learn how to communicate and collaborate with their team to determine the answers. In addition, they learn that finding the answer is not always the goal, often it is demonstrating grit and perseverance! We will share the 10 reasons for trying Digital Breakouts and provide teachers will resources to begin on day one!
