Stories are cognitively privileged, more likely to be remembered, and invite students into the content of primary sources. Stories generate a natural curiosity for reading and can be leveraged as a framework for inquiry. This workshop offers participants short texts and instructional strategies for supporting students' development of disciplinary literacies that generate pathways to inquiry in the social studies.
